Inclusion criteria

✓. Age ≥ 18 years
✓. PaCO₂ ≤ 50 mmHg
✓. PaO₂/FiO₂ ≤ 300 mmHg
✓. Use of a noninvasive ventilator with esophageal pressure monitoring capability (e.g., Mindray SV70) -
