Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 May 2026

These Terms govern your use of clinicaltrialcompass.org (the "Service"), operated by Clinical Trial Compass ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service is not medical advice

Clinical Trial Compass is an information and research tool. We surface public clinical trial registry data and adverse event reports in plain language. We do not:

  • Practise medicine, give medical advice, or make treatment recommendations.
  • Establish a doctor-patient relationship with you.
  • Endorse, recommend, or guarantee the safety of any specific trial or drug.
  • Diagnose conditions or interpret medical records for your specific situation.

Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making any decision about your treatment, enrolling in a trial, or changing any medication. The information presented here may contain errors, may be out of date, or may not apply to your specific medical situation.

2. Eligibility translation and matching

The Service uses AI to translate trial eligibility criteria into plain English and to suggest trials that may match your profile. These outputs are best-effort interpretations of public data. They are not a substitute for review by a clinical trial coordinator or your physician.

Final eligibility for any trial is determined by the trial's research team during screening — not by Compass. We may surface trials you do not actually qualify for, and we may miss trials you would qualify for.

3. Adverse event data caveat

FDA FAERS adverse event reports are voluntary and unverified. A high report count for a drug does not necessarily mean it is more dangerous than a drug with fewer reports — it may simply be more widely prescribed. We display this data as the FDA publishes it, without modification or interpretation.

4. Account and security

The free tier of the Service does not require an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your authentication credentials secure. You agree not to share your account with others.

You may close your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used to abuse the Service (e.g. scraping, automated requests beyond rate limits).

5. Pro subscription, billing, and refunds

  • The Pro tier is billed monthly ($12) or annually ($99) via Stripe.
  • You may cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then.
  • Refunds: Monthly plans are non-refundable. Annual plans are pro-rated and refunded on cancellation. If a charge is in error, contact billing@clinicaltrialcompass.org within 30 days.
  • Price changes apply to your next renewal. We will give 30 days' notice by email before any price increase.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Service beyond normal browsing.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass authentication.
  • Use the Service to harass or spam trial coordinators.
  • Misrepresent your identity when contacting trial coordinators through Compass.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or content that contains the personal data of others.
  • Use the Service to recruit patients for a trial you are conducting (the Service is for patients and caregivers).

7. Intellectual property

The underlying clinical trial and adverse event data is sourced from public US Government registries (ClinicalTrials.gov, OpenFDA) and is in the public domain. Our presentation, AI translations, eligibility matching logic, and editorial content are copyright Clinical Trial Compass. You may share links and individual quotes with attribution; you may not republish substantial portions of our translated or editorial content without permission.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information displayed is accurate, complete, or current.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clinical Trial Compass and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision you make based on information from the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which is zero for free-tier users).

9. Changes to the Service

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will not retroactively charge for free features that become paid; if a feature you depended on is removed, that does not entitle you to a refund of past Pro subscription fees.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where you have non-waivable statutory rights in your jurisdiction.
