Inclusion Criteria: pathological confirmation or imaging data confirming malignant disease causing bile duct obstruction, performance status 0-1 Exclusion Criteria: terminally ill patients, performance status \>2, hepatic decompensation, severe underlying cardiac or renal diseases and coagulation disorders.
