Inclusion Criteria: • Total thyroidectomy Exclusion Criteria: * concomitant parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism * lobectomy only * completion thyroidectomy * central and lateral neck dissection * patients with calcium and/or vitamin D supplementation prior surgery * patients with known and significant osteoporosis and renal failure
