Inclusion Criteria: * Indication for total thyroidectomy Exclusion Criteria: * parathyroid disorders, chronic kidney disease (eGFR\< 60 ml/min), treatment with antiosteoporosis drugs, rheumatic disease and history of long term (\>1 month) or current corticosteroid use
