Inclusion criteria

✓. Critically ill patients
✓. Requirement for mechanical ventilation
✓. At least one major risk factor for stress ulcer related bleeding

Exclusion criteria

✕. History of gastric or oesophageal surgery
✕. Evidence of active GI bleeding
✕. Advanced renal disease
