Inclusion Criteria: * nulliparous adolescent and young women requesting levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device Exclusion Criteria: * pregnancy and * contraindication or allergy to or contraindication to IUD insertion, * chronic pelvic pain, * pelvic inflammatory disease, * analgesic intake 24 hours prior to IUD insertion.
